Discord Bot Permissions for Stream Alerts
When a channel is missing from the selector or an alert fails to post, the cause is almost always a permission. StreamBruh asks for only four, and never for Administrator.
Step-by-step setup
Know the four permissions
View Channels lets the bot see the destination channel. Send Messages lets it post alerts. Embed Links lets alerts show the stream preview. Read Message History lets StreamBruh confirm whether an alert was posted after a connection problem.
Invite the bot with them
Use Invite Bot in Bot & integrations. Discord lists the requested permissions before you authorize; keep them selected.
Check channel overrides
A channel can deny a permission that the bot role allows. Open the channel settings, then Permissions, and make sure the bot and its role are not denied View Channel or Send Messages.
Refresh the channel list
Back in the notification, select Refresh Discord channels. Only channels where the bot can view and send messages are listed.
Let old alerts be removed
When a stream ends, StreamBruh deletes its alert. A bot can always delete its own messages, so Manage Messages is not needed.
Check your setup
- The bot appears in the member list of your server.
- The destination channel appears in the channel selector.
- Check now posts the alert without a permission error.
Troubleshooting
Channel missing from the list
The bot cannot view or post in that channel. Review the channel overrides for the bot and its role.
Alert posted without a preview image
Allow Embed Links for the bot in that channel.
Missing Access or Missing Permissions error
Invite the bot again from Bot & integrations or restore the permissions in the channel settings, then run Check now again.
